Aniela Szlemińska

Aniela Szlemińska (born February 12, 1892 in Winnyzja , † April 3, 1964 in Kraków ) was a Polish singer (soprano) and vocal teacher.

Szlemińska attended the Conservatory and Drama School in Lviv and made his debut at the Teatr Wielki in 1927 as Rosina in the Barber of Seville by Gioachino Rossini . In the 1928–29 season she sang in the ensemble of the Poznan Opera and in the 1929–30 season at the Lviv Opera. From 1931 until the outbreak of the Second World War, she worked for the Polish Radio in Warsaw. Concert tours have taken her to the United States, Denmark, Germany, Hungary and Latvia, among others. In 1932 she sang the role of Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatr Wielki in Warsaw .

During the occupation, she took part in private concerts and taught singing. From 1945 she was a professor of singing at the State Music Academy in Cracow . In 1947 she sang the world premiere of five songs by Witold Lutosławski accompanied by the pianist Jan Hoffman .
