The river Retourne forms the northern boundary of the municipality. Saint-Remy-le-Petit is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of L'Écaille in the west, Bergnicourt in the north and east, Ménil-Lépinois on a short section in the southeast and the municipality of Isles-sur-Suippe in the Marne department in the south.
