Brienne-sur-Aisne is a French commune with 258 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rethel , the canton of Château-Porcien ( Asfeld until 2015 ) and the Pays Rethélois municipal association .
geography
The commune borders the Aisne and Marne departments . It is located around 20 kilometers north of Reims . The Aisne forms the north-western boundary of the municipality. The Aisne Lateral Canal runs largely parallel to the Aisne in the area of Brienne-sur-Aisne. Brienne-sur-Aisne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Avaux in the north, Vieux-lès-Asfeld in the northeast, Poilcourt-Sydney in the east and the municipality of Auménancourt in the Marne department in the south and the municipalities of Pignicourt in the southwest and Évergnicourt in the Aisne department in the north-west.
