Balham is a French commune with 152 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rethel , the canton of Château-Porcien ( Asfeld until 2015 ) and the Pays Rethélois municipal association . With 1.77 km² it is the smallest municipality in the canton of Château-Porcien and the fourth smallest in the Ardennes department.

The Aisne flows through the municipality. The Ardennes Canal runs along the southern border of the municipality . Balham is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Germainmont in the west and north, Gomont in the northeast, Blanzy-la-Salonnaise in the east, Aire in the south and Asfeld in the southwest.
