Avaux is a French commune with 466 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (before 2016 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rethel , the canton of Château-Porcien ( Asfeld until 2015 ) and the Pays Rethélois municipal association . The inhabitants are called Avalois (es) in French .

The Aisne forms the southeastern and southern municipal boundary. Surrounded Avaux of the neighboring communities of Villers-devant-le-Thour in the north, Asfeld in the Northeast, Vieux-lès-Asfeld in the southeast, Brienne-sur-Aisne in the south and from the region Hauts-de-France , Aisne , located communes of Évergnicourt in the southwest and west and Proviseux-et-Plesnoy on a short section in the northwest.
