Chappes is a French commune with 101 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the arrondissement of Rethel , to the canton of Signy-l'Abbaye (until 2015: canton of Chaumont-Porcien ) and to the community association Crêtes Préardennaises . The inhabitants are called Chappois .

Chappes is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Chaumont-Porcien in the north, Doumely-Bégny in the northeast, Herbigny in the east, Hauteville and Son in the south and Remaucourt in the west.
