Andreas Reize (born May 19, 1975 ) is a Swiss conductor .

Andreas Reize grew up in Solothurn , attended school there and graduated from high school in 1996. For many years he was a member of the singing boys of the St. Ursus Cathedral in Solothurn. Reize studied organ and piano at the music academies in Bern and Zurich as well as organ and harpsichord for three years at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis . From 2001 to 2005 he studied orchestra conducting and choral conducting at the Lucerne and Zurich Schools of Music .

From 2004 to 2006 he completed postgraduate studies in conducting with Johannes Prinz in Vienna via the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz , which he graduated with honors. He also took part in master classes with Anders Eby , Bernhard Haitink , Colin Davis and Ralf Weikert , among others , and sat in with Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Zurich Opera House and at the Styriarte Graz.

In 2001 Reize founded the cantus firmus vocal ensemble and consort and in 2006 the cantus firmus chamber choir . He has been music director of the Schloss Waldegg Opera House since 2006 , where he conducted The Fairy Queen by Henry Purcell in 2015 and Orfeo by Claudio Monteverdi in 2017 . In 2019 he will conduct Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell at the Theater Biel-Solothurn and Il ritorno d'Ulisse in Patria by Claudio Monteverdi at Waldegg Castle.

Reize was a guest conductor at the Nationaltheater Mannheim , the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich and the Swiss Chamber Choir. There were also invitations with cantus firmus to the International Summer Festival for Early Music Innsbruck , the Bach Weeks in Amsoldingen and the subscription concerts of the Biel Symphony Orchestra.

In 2007 he was a lecturer at the Swiss Opera Studio and a lecturer at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.

With the singing boys of the St. Ursus Cathedral Solothurn, which he has directed since 2007, he expanded the program in addition to the classical church music repertoire to include modern styles, e.g. B. Performances with choreographies to pop songs. In May 2016 he and the Singknaben were invited to the European Youth Choir Festival in Basel .

Since 2011 he has directed the Gabrielichor in Bern. 2012 was Vespers of Giovanni Rovetta listed. In 2014 Reize reconstructed various individual compositions by Johann Rosenmüller for a Marienvesper . In 2016 the choir performed Claudio Monteverdi's vespers to Mary . In 2017, works by various Thomaskantors from Leipzig were performed - including by Bach , Calvisius , Schein and Kuhnau - as well as works by Andrea and Giovanni Gabrieli . In 2018, works from the Selva morale et spirituale collection of Monteverdi were performed for the second time in choral history .

Since 2011 he has been the choir director of the Zurich Bach Choir . The repertoire includes works from various styles from the Renaissance to modern times as well as secular, contemporary vocal music and Swiss folk songs. The semi-staged performance of Purcell's King Arthur , the Swiss premiere of Bach's St. John Passion in the instrumentation by Robert Schumann and Handel's Messiah were of particular importance . In the summer of 2018, a guest tour took him to the Augustinian Church in Erfurt, the Meissen Cathedral and the Frauenkirche Dresden .
