Amsoldingen is a municipality in the Thun administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . The village lies on the banks of the Amsoldingersee and is approx. 5 km from Thun .
Amsoldingen is known for the Amsoldingen Church , the largest Ottonian basilica in the area. From 1728 to 1738, pastor Samuel Lutz worked here .
The cheese dairy in the village produces Amsoldinger cheese , a semi-hard raw milk product that is reminiscent of Emmentaler in taste .
