Homberg is a municipality in the Thun administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
geography
The place is northeast of Thun and on the slopes on the left side of the valley of the lower Zulg valley . There used to be no major settlement centers. Today a village center has developed in the hamlet of Dreiligass (941 m above sea level). The next larger districts are Enzenbühl (southeast of the village center; 997 m. Above sea level), Huckhaus (east; 951 m. Above sea level) and Fuhren (north; 864 m. Above sea level). There are also other groups of houses and individual farmsteads. The area is heavily forested along the streams. The largest stream, next to the Zulg, is the Stägenbach , which joins the Zulg from the left. 66.4% of the entire community area of 652 ha is used for agriculture. 30.1% is covered by forest and wood and only 3.2% is settlement area.
The place borders in the east on Teuffenthal , in the south on Heiligenschwendi and Thun , in the southwest on Schwendibach , in the west on Steffisburg , in the north on Fahrni and Unterlangenegg and in the northeast on Horrenbach-Buchen .

languages
The population speaks a high Alemannic dialect in everyday life , which is one of the dialects of Bern German . At the last census in 2000, all residents named German as their main language.
Religions - denominations
In earlier times all residents were members of the Evangelical Reformed Church. However, the Free Evangelical Community of Homberg has existed since 1900.
Origin - nationality
At the beginning of 2005, 481 (= 97.17%) of the residents were Swiss nationals and 14 were immigrants from other countries.

Mayor is Andreas Wittwer (as of 2016).
The voting shares of the parties on the occasion of the National Council election 2015 were: SVP 63.7%, EDU 9.5%, EVP 6.5%, SP 4.4%, BDP 4.4%, GPS 3.8%, glp 2.6 %, CVP 1.6%, FDP 1.4%, pirates 1.0%.
traffic
Parts of the community on the road from Steffisburg to Teuffenthal are served by the Thun-Teuffenthal post bus line. The parts of the community on the slope south of the Zulg are not accessible to public transport.
The largest settlements in the community are on the side street (Thun-) Steffisburg-Teuffenthal. The parts of the community on the slope south of the Zulg are poorly developed. The closest motorway connection is Thun-Nord on the A6 .
