Oberlangenegg is a municipality in the Thun administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
geography
The community lies on a plateau in the middle of a hilly landscape and is heavily forested. The largest settlement is the Kreuzweg (Chrüzweg; 921 m above sea level; not to be confused with the Kreuzweg in the neighboring community of Unterlangenegg). Otherwise there are no hamlets, only groups of houses and individual farms. Of the total municipal area of 915 hectares, 49.1% is covered by forest and wood, 45.6% agricultural area and only 4.5% settlement area.
Oberlangenegg borders in the west on Unterlangenegg , in the north on Wachseldorn , in the northeast on Röthenbach in the Emmental and in the south on Eriz and Teuffenthal .

languages
The population speaks a high Alemannic dialect in everyday life , which is one of the dialects of Bern German . In the last census in 2000, 97.93% said German, 1.04% Albanian and 0.62% French were the main languages.
Religions - denominations
In earlier times the entire population belonged to the Evangelical Reformed Church. This has changed as a result of immigration from other regions of Switzerland and abroad and resignations from the Church. Today (as of 2000) 91.91% are Protestant Reformed and 1.24% Roman Catholic Christians. There are also 2.90% Muslims and 2.07% non-denominational. 1.87% refused to provide information on their creed.
Origin - nationality
At the beginning of 2005, 472 (= 98.54%) of the population were Swiss citizens and seven immigrants from other countries. At the last census in 2000, 96.68% were Swiss citizens, including one person with dual nationality. The few immigrants are mostly Albanians from Kosovo and Macedonia.

The voting shares of the parties in the 2015 National Council election were: SVP 73.5%, BDP 6.4%, SP 4.5%, glp 3.7%, EDU 3.6%, FDP 2.5%, GPS 1.8 %, EVP 1.7%, pirates 1.6%, CVP 0.2%.
Sports
The EHC Oberlangenegg is the ice hockey club for the community and the surrounding area. For years the 1st team between the 2nd and 3rd league was on the rise and off again. But in the 2005/06 season the team was able to assert itself in the 2nd division and reached the quarter-finals in the play-offs. The second team was also able to consolidate in the third division in the 2005/06 season.

The community is connected to the public transport network by bus line 42 of the STI Thun-Schwarzenegg- Heimenschwand . The place is on the Schallenbergstrasse from Thun to Wolhusen-Luzern.
