history
The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria. For Austrian province of Vorarlberg Langenegg heard since its founding in 1861. By the year 1924, today's community was divided into two Langenegg local churches: Oberlangenegg and Unterlangenegg. These two communities merged on January 1, 1924 to form the new community of Langenegg. The place was part of the French occupation zone in Austria from 1945 to 1955. On July 6, 2010, Langenegg won the competition for the 11th European Village Renewal Award .
In the Biedermeier period , a saline iron source in Unterlangenegg (Gfung) is said to have been used as a healing source to heal chronic rashes and ulcers.
Population development
The proportion of foreigners in 2002 was 7.1%.
The strong increase in population after 1981 is due to a positive birth balance and a positive migration balance. After 2001 the birth balance turned negative, but this was offset by immigration.
Culture and sights
- Langenegg sculpture trail
In 2007 and 2009, nine artists each from Austria , Italy , Germany and Switzerland dedicated themselves to a tree of choice - still standing in the forest, lying down as a trunk or in the form of wood chips. A corresponding description as a brochure is available from the local tourist office .
