Kennelbach is an Austrian municipality with 1935 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020) in the Bregenz district in Vorarlberg .
geography
The community of Kennelbach is located south of Lake Constance at an altitude of 430 meters. 54% of the area is forested. There are no other cadastral communities in Kennelbach.
history
The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria. For Austrian province of Vorarlberg Kennelbach heard since its founding in 1861. Kennelbach is an independent municipality only since 1911, after the place from the town of vineyards , which later became the city of Bregenz , had split off was incorporated. From 1938 to 1946, however, Kennelbach lost this independence again when the community was incorporated under the National Socialists together with Lochau , Eichenberg and Fluh to form the city of Bregenz. Only with the end of National Socialist rule and the regaining of Austrian sovereignty did the incorporated communities become independent again and Kennelbach was reappointed an independent community together with numerous other communities that were incorporated during the Nazi era.
In the 19th century and in the first half of the 20th century, the place was strongly influenced by the industrial family Schindler and their cotton mill, which was closed in 1968. The former seat of the Schindler family, the Villa Grünau , has belonged to the community since 1992 and is the seat of the community administration. The place was part of the French occupation zone in Austria from 1945 to 1955.

In 2001, the municipal income from taxes and other charges was € 2,361,184, and the municipal expenses € 3,333,885. The debt level in 2001 was € 1,657,068.

Culture and sights
In 1952 a cooperative home-building project of the community with the participation of the textile company Schindler was documented by the Austrian photographer Stefan Kruckelhauser. The title of the photo book is "Ein Dorf wird".
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2003 there were 33 commercial enterprises with 955 employees and 27 apprentices on site. There were 863 employees subject to wage tax. Tourism and tourism are important branches of the economy.
Established businesses
The world-famous ski and tennis racket manufacturer HEAD , including the ski manufacturers of Bode Miller and Hermann Maier .
The company SUFAG, which manufactures snow cannons , was founded in 1979 in Kennelbach. The company began to gradually outsource production to Sweden in 2013. In 2015, the last parts of the company were outsourced with the product service and the spare part dispatch. Innsbruck became the new Austrian location. This meant a considerable minus for the economic budget of the community of Kennelbach.
Since 2008 the previous Bug Alu building has been reactivated. The production hall has been used by the international automotive supplier Faurecia for part of its production since summer 2008 . The office building was completely renovated and has been occupied by around 135 employees from the international logistics group Gebrüder Weiss since July 24, 2009 .
