Ulrich Nachbaur

Ulrich Nachbaur (* 1962 in Feldkirch ) is an Austrian archivist and historian . Since February 1, 2019, he has been head of the Vorarlberg State Archives as Vorarlberg State Archives . Nachbaur has been working in the State Archives since 1997 and researches in particular in the area of Vorarlberg regional and administrative history.

Career

Ulrich Nachbaur was born in the Vorarlberg town of Feldkirch in 1962. He graduated from 1980 to 1984 the Study of Law at the University of Innsbruck , where he became a doctor of law ( Dr. iur. ) Graduated was. He then did his basic military service and at the same time began studying history and politics at the University of Innsbruck from 1984 to 1985. From 1985 to 1988 he moved to Munich to study modern, medieval and legal history at the Ludwig Maximilians University there. Ulrich Nachbaur completed this course in 1988 with the award of the academic degree Magister Artium ( MA ).

From 1988 onwards, Ulrich Nachbaur worked as an employee at the Vorarlberg State Education Center Schloss Hofen . In 1989 he became a speaker and later the office manager of Vorarlberg Governor Martin Purtscher . From 1995 to 1996 Nachbaur completed a post-graduate course in “Business Administration for Lawyers” at his former place of work at Schloss Hofen. Ulrich Nachbaur finally came to the Vorarlberg State Archives in 1997, where he still passed the legal examinations in the State Service in 1999. From 2002 he was head of the Central Services department in the Vorarlberg State Archives and from 2003 deputy to State archivist Alois Niederstätter . In November 2018 Ulrich Nachbaur was appointed by the Vorarlberg state government to succeed Alois Niederstätter as state archivist and took up this position on February 1, 2019.
