Sibratsgfall is a municipality in Austria in Vorarlberg in the Bregenz district with 424 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Sibratsgfall is located in the westernmost state of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the Bregenz district south of Lake Constance at an altitude of 929 meters. 46.0% of the area is forested, 34.2% of the area is mountainous (Alps). The community is right on the border with Germany . Sibratsgfälle is a member of the German-Austrian joint project Naturpark Nagelfluhkette . There are no other cadastral communities in Sibratsgälle.

Neighboring communities

The municipality of Sibratsgfälle borders on two Austrian and two German municipalities. These are the municipality of Hittisau and the market municipality of Egg in the Austrian district of Bregenz and the municipalities of Balderschwang and Oberstdorf in the Bavarian district of Oberallgäu .

history

The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria , then again to Austria . Sibratsgfall has belonged to the Austrian state of Vorarlberg since it was founded in 1861 . The place was part of the French occupation zone in Austria from 1945 to 1955 .

In 2003 there were 10 commercial businesses with 32 employees on site. There were 167 employees subject to wage tax. Tourism and tourism are important economic sectors in the place. Sibratsgfälle has a drag lift for winter tourism (with an attached baby lift). In the 2001/2002 tourism year there were a total of 24,945 overnight stays. There are (as of January 2003) 22 students on site. There is a kindergarten and a primary school in Sibratsgälle. The secondary school is operated together with the communities of Hittisau and Riefensberg.
