Reuthe is a municipality in Austria in Vorarlberg in the Bregenz district with 660 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Reuthe is located in the westernmost state of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the Bregenz district southeast of Lake Constance at 650 m above sea level. A. 53.4% of the area is forested, 11.6% of the area of the Alps. There are no other cadastral communities in Reuthe.
Neighboring communities
Despite its comparatively small area, the municipality of Reuthe is surrounded by seven neighboring municipalities due to its location in the middle of the Bregenzerwald. Six of them, namely the communities Schwarzenberg , Andelsbuch , Bezau , Bizau , Schnepfau and Mellau are also Bregenzerwald communities in the Bregenz district. The neighboring municipality to the west, the city of Dornbirn , is located in the Dornbirn district of the same name .
history
The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria. For Austrian province of Vorarlberg Reuthe heard since its founding in 1861. The place was 1945-1955 part of the French zone of occupation in Austria.

The proportion of foreigners at the end of 2002 was 13.5 percent. There has been a negative migration balance since 1991, but this is offset by the more positive birth balance.

The municipal council of Reuthe consists of 12 members, who at the last local council elections in 2015 were not elected by party lists, but by majority vote.
Mayor of the community is Bianca Moosbrugger-Petter. She was elected to succeed Arno Scharler in March 2015.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2003 there were 12 commercial enterprises with 405 employees and 41 apprentices on site. There were 262 employees subject to wage tax. Tourism and tourism are important. In the 2001/2002 tourism year there were a total of 76,231 overnight stays.
There are (as of January 2003) 38 students in the village. There is also a kindergarten in Reuthe.
Culture and sights
- The Bregenzerwaldbahn (Museumbahn Wäldlerbahn) stops at the originally preserved bus stop in Reuthe.
- The parish church of St. Jakobus was built in 1248 and has frescoes that were created between 1420 and 1450.
