Leopold Fetz

Leopold Fetz (born November 15, 1915 in Reuthe im Bregenz Forest , † May 21, 2012 in Bregenz ) was an Austrian painter, illustrator and graphic artist.

Life

Leopold Fetz did an apprenticeship with the painter Toni Kirchmayr in Innsbruck from 1931 to 1934. He passed the entrance exam at the Munich Academy and studied with Bernhard Bleeker , but dropped out in the first year. From 1940 to 1941 he studied with Gruber at the Westenrieder School of Painting in Munich. From 1941 he did military service and returned to Vorarlberg from English captivity in 1946 and lived in Schwarzenberg and Reuthe. He moved to Bregenz in 1954 and taught as a subject teacher and art teacher at several schools until 1980.

Fetz became known among other things for his portraits of children, frescoes and woodcuts.

Awards

  • Fetz received the graphics prize in Innsbruck in 1943 .
  • In 1952 he was awarded the Federal Ministry of Education award and received a scholarship from the Institut Francais d'Innsbruck.
  • In 1980 Fetz received the Vorarlberg State of Honor for Art and Science.
