Riefensberg is a municipality in Austria in Vorarlberg in the Bregenz district with 1053 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).

geography

Riefensberg is located in the westernmost state of Austria, Vorarlberg, in the Bregenz district south of Lake Constance at an altitude of 781 meters. 35.8% of the area is forested, 12.3% of the area of ​​the Alps. There are no other cadastral communities in Riefensberg. The place is a member of the German-Austrian community project Naturpark Nagelfluhkette .

history

The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria, then again to Austria.
