His artistic talent showed him the professional path very early on, when he began his apprenticeship in the Waibel painter's workshop in Ravensburg at the age of 14 . After his apprenticeship as a painter, he studied at Toni Kirchmayr's (1887–1965) painting school in Innsbruck and at the Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin.

He got to know the Montafon in 1937 and in 1945, after his marriage to Huberta Juen, he settled in Schruns in Austria and worked there as a painter and restorer. In his studio on Montjola he created many panel paintings as well as the designs for countless wall paintings in a wide variety of techniques - sgraffito , fresco , plaster cut, glass and marble cut mosaic as well as concrete and lead glass painting .

The dominant area in Honold's work is sacred art. He processed religious themes on facade paintings, included them as a central motif in his war memorials and dealt with Christian iconography as a restorer of many church rooms. Konrad Honold also continued the tradition of church painters through independent creations. For example, he created the ceiling fresco “Vorarlbergia Sankta” in the St. Anna Chapel in Lingenau (1968) and he designed the choir arch in the Rankweil pilgrimage church (1962). He also designed stations of the cross for various churches in Vorarlberg and in neighboring countries. Honold also received major national orders, such as in Linz, Bruneck and Vienna ( Sofiensäle ).

From 1973 to 1979 Konrad Honold was chairman of the Montafon Heimatschutzverein . It is thanks to his initiative that the local history museum is not housed in a new building, but in its current location, in an old Montafon house.

Konrad Honold died on June 23, 2007.
