Lingenau parish church
The Roman Catholic parish church Lingenau on sale in the Bregenzerwälder community Lingenau in the district of Bregenz in Vorarlberg . It is consecrated to St. John the Baptist and belongs to the deanery of Vorderwald-Kleinwalsertal in the diocese of Feldkirch . The building is a listed building .
history
The church was mentioned for the first time in 1249 and was occupied by conventuals of the Mehrerau Abbey until 1635 . A medieval church was built between 1465 and 1486. In 1866 this church was destroyed by fire. Between 1868 and 1871 the building was completely rebuilt in the neo-Romanesque style. In 1963, the interior was extended by a window axis according to plans by Norbert Ender, and two concrete galleries were built on top of each other. The historical inventory was completely removed and the interior redesigned, including a. with glass windows by Konrad Honold . In 2010 the church was redesigned again with Ernst Beneder and Anja Fischer. The organ by Anton Behmann (1883) has been preserved.
architecture
The church is facing east in the middle of the village on a slight slope. It is surrounded by a cemetery. The building consists of a simple hall, a retracted choir with a five-eighth end and a north tower with a pointed gable helmet. The rectangular nave is vaulted with a square vault with stitch caps on consoles. During the renovation in 2010, the choir was set up on a uniform level, five steps above the level of the nave. This restored the level of 1870. With free seating the possibility for small celebrations is created. The old sacristy was used as a confessional space with direct access from the choir. A barrier-free sanitary room and a new sacristy were created.
The focus of the renovation was to move the altar into the middle of the nave with changeable details so that the mass can be read in any direction as required. The existing pews now flank the altar on each side.
The portals with copper-driven representations were preserved. The southern staircase to the gallery was removed and a shelf wall was introduced to the northern staircase. The second gallery was removed, creating the height for an organ appropriate to the nave.
Furnishing
The liturgical places were redesigned during the renovation. The baptismal font became a fountain, from which water flows to a real olive tree during a baptism. The olive tree points to Jesus' path through Jerusalem to the Mount of Olives. The altar consists of twelve types of stone and refers to the twelve apostles, the ambo consists of four types of stone and refers to the four evangelists. The Way of the Cross is drawn as a path through markings in the floor and by hanging flags as a support frame for light and media in the entire nave and ends at a large free-standing cross.
The organ was built in 2012 by the organ building company Rieger (Schwarzach). The slider chest instrument has 28 stops on two manual works and a pedal . The action mechanism is mechanical, the stop action is electric.
