Innerbraz is a municipality in Austria in Vorarlberg in the Bludenz district with 997 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2020).
geography
Innerbraz is located in the Klostertal on the Alfenz river at an altitude of 708 meters. 58.5% of the area is forested, 10.3% of the area of the Alps . There are no other cadastral communities in Innerbraz.
Neighboring communities
The municipality of Innerbraz is surrounded by four other Vorarlberg municipalities, all of which, like Innberbraz, are in the Bludenz district. Starting from the north, clockwise, these are the communities Raggal in the Großer Walsertal , Dalaas , which, like Innerbraz, is in the Klostertal, Bartholomäberg in the Montafon and the district capital Bludenz at the beginning of the Walgau . Due to its location in the west-east running Klostertal, there are only direct traffic connections from Innerbraz to the neighboring communities with Dalaas, which is in the valley, and the Bludenz district of Auserbraz, which is out of the valley in the direction of Walgau.
history
The Habsburgs ruled the places in Vorarlberg alternately from Tyrol and Upper Austria (Freiburg im Breisgau). From 1805 to 1814 the place belonged to Bavaria , then again to Austria . Innerbraz has belonged to the Austrian state of Vorarlberg since it was founded in 1861 . The place was part of the French occupation zone in Austria from 1945 to 1955 .
The name Braz comes from the Latin “prates” - meadow.
The place became known nationwide on August 11, 1995 due to the 1995 railway accident in Braz , in which three people were killed and 17 people were seriously injured. The accident was a Mure triggered that had torn the railway bridge over the Mason Bach.
Population development
The proportion of foreigners at the end of 2002 was 8.4 percent.
politics
The municipal council of Innerbraz consists of 12 members who were elected in the 2015 municipal council election as part of the special election process in the absence of nominations , i.e. by majority vote. The mayor of the community is Hans Peter Pfanner.

sport and freetime
Innerbraz has an outdoor pool and offers a cross-country ski run in winter . A golf course is available in Ausserbraz . Numerous hiking trails lead to the surrounding mountains of the Klostertal.
Economy and Infrastructure
In 2003 there were 14 commercial enterprises with 159 employees and 6 apprentices on site. There were 444 employees subject to wage tax. Social center opened on October 22, 2005
education
There are (as of January 2003) 267 students in the village. There is also a kindergarten in Innerbraz.
