Parish Church of Braz
The Roman Catholic parish church of Braz is in the municipality of Innerbraz in the Klostertal in Vorarlberg . The parish church of St. Nikolaus belongs to the dean's office Bludenz-Sonnenberg in the diocese of Feldkirch . The church and the cemetery are under monument protection .
history
A St. Nicholas chapel was mentioned in a document in 1383. The church was expanded in 1449 and made a local chaplaincy and consecrated in 1501. Innerbraz belonged to the parish of Nüziders, while Auserbraz, as part of the city of Bludenz, belonged to the parish of Bludenz. In 1577 Innerbraz and Auserbraz were ecclesiastically united. This fact was legally recognized in 1785 and implemented in 1913.

- Church exterior
The church building as a simple baroque structure with a Gothic choir and a north tower stands parallel to the street and is surrounded by a cemetery wall. The nave with five arched windows stands with the retracted choir under a shared gable roof. Under the roof groove a circumferential extending fighter band . The gable facade in the west is structured with three arched windows and a neo-baroque arched portal. The tympanum field shows with a mosaic Christ as a copy after Deschanden. The tower in the north is attached to the choir and has an octagonal upper floor, which was added in 1787, with large and small round arched sound windows and an onion hood. To the east of the tower is a two-story sacristy.

The five- bay nave has lancet barrel vaults on marbled double pilasters that separate the yoke .
Furnishing
The high altar as a four-column structure with a canopy-shaped volute was created by Josef Vonier (1760) and bears the figure of Nikolaus in the middle and Martin and Ulrich to the side, created by Josef Klemens Witwer (around 1774). In the cartouche in the entablature is the indication of Anton Jehly (1915). In the elevator there is a halo of the Holy Spirit and two entablature angels.

The parish church of Braz is the death chapel, the way chapel St. Magnus , the wayside chapel St. Wolfgang , Chapel of St. Anna in Auserbraz, a Lourdes Chapel and the Mariahilf Chapel on Mühleplatz in Innerbraz .
