Until December 31, 2013, Oberstocken was a political municipality in the Thun administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland . On January 1, 2014 Oberstocken merged with the former municipalities of Höfen bei Thun and Niederstocken to form the new municipality of Stocken-Höfen .
In addition to the residents' community, there is also a civic community under the name of Oberstocken .

Oberstocken is located in the Bernese Oberland in the Alps in the Stockental . The neighboring communities from the north, starting clockwise, were Höfen , Niederstocken, Erlenbach im Simmental , Därstetten and Pohlern until December 31, 2013 .

The community president of the community is Markus Leuenberger (as of 2009).
The voting shares of the parties at the 2011 National Council elections were: SVP 51.7%, BDP 9.5%, EDU 7.8%, glp 7.4%, SP 7.0%, FDP 5.0%, GPS 4.3 %, CVP 2.4%, EVP 2.1%, parteifrei.ch 1.1%.
history
The name Oberstocken goes back to the Old High German generic word stoc (tree trunk, tree trunk). In place and field names this is how clearings are called. The qualifier Ober serves to differentiate the Niederstocken of the same name . First historical mention in 1309 when "von der burg ze Stocken" was mentioned.
Until December 31, 2013, Oberstocken was an independent municipality .
