Erlenbach im Simmental is a municipality in the Frutigen-Niedersimmental administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .
In addition to the resident community, there is also an Evangelical Reformed church community under this name .
Names
Erlenbach ("the stream with alder trees") is an original stream name that was transferred to the settlement. The name consists of the Old High German generic words erila ( alder ) and bah (brook).
geography
Erlenbach im Simmental is located in the Bernese Oberland in the Alps on the Simme . The neighboring communities starting from the north in a clockwise direction are Stocken-Höfen , Reutigen , Wimmis , Diemtigen and Därstetten .
There are two small reservoirs in the community, the Oberstocken and Hinterstockensee . The farming communities Latterbach and Ringoldingen belong to Erlenbach.
