Stephan Andrist (born December 12, 1987 in Erlenbach im Simmental ) is a Swiss football player . The midfielder is under contract with 1. FC Saarbrücken in Germany and is a former Swiss junior international.

Career

In the club

Before Andrist was called up for the first team of FC Thun , the midfielder played for the FC Dürrenast juniors and then in various youth teams at FC Thun - most recently for the U-21s. He made his professional debut on September 22, 2007 in the top Swiss league, the Super League , when FC Thun played against FC Luzern . He soon became an integral part of the first team and was used in 27 of 28 remaining championship games in the 2007/08 season, as well as in two cup games. That year, FC Thun was relegated to the Challenge League after a difficult season . In the following 2008/09 season Stephan Andrist was also one of the starting eleven before in September 2008, a rail - and fibula fracture drew upon.

The midfielder only played a serious fight in the fourth championship game of the 2009/10 season , but injured his shin again after three match days and fell out again for a longer period. Shortly before the end of the season, he was able to be used again and finally became Challenge League champion with FC Thun . After two years in the second highest division, FC Thun rose again to the Super League. After his recovery, Stephan Andrist not only played for the first team from April 2010, but also repeatedly strengthened the second team. Since the Thun U21 team advanced from the 2nd league to the 1st league (third highest division) this season , Andrist was able to celebrate a double promotion. Andrist remained a candidate for both teams in the 2010/11 season . For the U21 he played two full games, in which he scored three goals, and in the first team he made around a dozen partial appearances. Although Andrist was not part of the team at the time, coach Murat Yakin continued to trust him. The expiring contract with Andrist was extended by two years in March 2011 to the end of June 2013.

On August 30, 2011 Andrist moved to FC Basel . With the reigning Swiss champions, trained by Thorsten Fink , he signed a contract until the end of June 2014 with an option for another season. Andrist made his league debut for FC Basel on September 10, 2011, in a 4-0 away win against Servette Geneva , when he came on for Xherdan Shaqiri in the 70th minute . He scored his first goal in the Super League (2-0 in the meantime) in a 4-1 home win against Grasshopper Club Zurich on October 29, 2011.

On September 11, 2012 Andrist switched to Super League competitor FC Luzern. They agreed on a loan deal until the end of the championship plus a subsequent purchase option. In February 2014 he moved to FC Aarau as a result of a player mutation , in return Davide Callà moved to Basel. After the Aarau's relegation from the Super League and his contract expired, Andrist joined the German third division club F.C. Hansa Rostock . He made his debut there on the 7th matchday in the away game against FC Erzgebirge Aue . He came on for Marcel Gottschling in the 69th minute of the game . Andrist scored his first goal in the away game on matchday 15 against VfB Stuttgart II . He scored 1-0 in the 59th minute. Ultimately, however, the game was lost 3-1. In total, Andrist came in his first season for the cog to 30 missions, in which he scored a total of 7 goals. He was also a national cup winner with FC Hansa in the same season . After a penalty shoot-out (4: 3), FC Schönberg 95 was defeated in the final. Andrist made four appearances in the national cup. He scored six hits here.

In the following season , Andrist, under coach Christian Brand, not only played in the first round of the DFB Cup against Fortuna Düsseldorf (0: 3), but also in 37 appearances in the league, in which he scored eleven goals. Andrist also won the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania regional cup in 2017. However, he did not extend his expiring contract on board the cog.

In the summer of 2017 Andrist moved to league competitor SV Wehen Wiesbaden . There he played a successful first season in which he scored 15 goals and also gave 10 assists. After a less successful first half of the 2018/19 season, he moved to league rivals VfR Aalen in January 2019 . After the relegation of VfR, the contract with a promotion and relegation clause was automatically terminated after the season.

After several months without a club, at the end of January 2020 the Swiss received a contract with the southwest regional division 1. FC Saarbrücken that was valid until the end of the season . He made his debut for FCS on March 3, 2020 in the DFB Cup quarter -finals against Fortuna Düsseldorf. Due to the cancellation of the 2019/20 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic , he did not play a league game for Saarbrücken.

National team

Stephan Andrist has been nominated several times for youth national teams, both for the U18 (at least three games) and for the U20. He also played numerous games with the U21 national team and with his teammates he managed an exploit when the Swiss surprisingly beat leaders Netherlands 1-0 away in Tilburg in the European Championship qualifiers .

The fractured tibia and fibula in September 2008 ended Andrist's career in the U21 national team.
