Buchholterberg is a municipality in the Thun administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland .

geography

The community is located in a hilly zone on the right slope of the valley and extends from the Rothachenschlucht up to the Schindelberg . The main settlement is the village Heimenschwand . In addition to this village, there are also the hamlets of Zihl and Bätterich up on the slope . Below are the hamlets of Marbach , Schaubhaus , Badhaus , Ibach , Wangelen , Teufenbach , Wyler and Rothachen . The Heimenegg , Höh and Längmatt districts have been built in recent years . 59.3% of the entire municipal area of ​​1534 ha is used for agriculture. Over a third (34.2%) are covered by forest and wood and only 5.4% are settlement areas.

In the eastern municipal area is located near the village of Wachseldorn the Wachseldornmoos .

At the beginning of 2005 the community had 1,480 inhabitants. Of these, 1,463 (98.85%) were Swiss citizens and 17 were foreign immigrants.

The mayor is Sandra Nussbaum ( SVP ).

The voting shares of the parties on the occasion of the National Council election in 2015 were: SVP 59.7%, BDP 9.1%, EDU 7.4%, SP 6.5%, EVP 5.0%, FDP 4.2%, glp 3.2 %, GPS 2.0%, Alpine Parliament 1.2%.

Facilities

In the Heimenschwand district there is a listening station of the Onyx network of the Swiss intelligence service, which includes three large parabolic antennas and one logarithmic-periodic antenna supported by three free-standing 53 meter high steel lattice towers with a triangular cross-section.

history

The first documentary mention of Buchholterberg dates from 1238 as Bucholtron . The community has only been part of the Thun district since 1863 .
