Wagnon is a French commune with 128 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rethel and to the community association Crêtes Préardennaises founded in 1995 .
geography
Wagnon is located on the Plumion , a tributary of the Vaux , about 24 kilometers southwest of Charleville-Mézières in the hill country south of the Ardennes . The 15.28 km² municipal area is characterized by fields and meadows, the northern third of the municipality is forested ( Bois de Saint-Martin, Forêt de Mortier ). Wagnon is surrounded by the neighboring communities Signy-l'Abbaye in the north, Dommery in the northeast, Viel-Saint-Remy in the east, Novion-Porcien in the south, Mesmont in the west and Grandchamp in the northwest. In addition to the village of Wagnon, the districts of Le Mortier, Les Forges, Les Tourets, Le Moulinet and Mazagran belong to the municipality of Wagnon .

Economy and Infrastructure
Wagnon is dominated by agriculture. Eight farmers (cereal cultivation and dairy farming) and five forestry operations are based in the municipality.
The trunk road from Rethel to Rocroi on the Belgian border (D985) runs through the municipality of Wagnon . Ten kilometers southeast of Wagnon there is a connection to the A34 autoroute . The train station in the town of Rethel, 15 kilometers south, is on the railway line from Soissons to Givet .
