Wasigny is a French commune with 331 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Ardennes department in the Grand Est region (until 2015 Champagne-Ardenne ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Rethel and to the community association Crêtes Préardennaises founded in 1995 .

geography

Wasigny is located on the Vaux , about 15 kilometers north of Rethel and about 28 kilometers southwest of Charleville-Mézières in the hill country south of the Ardennes . The 9.98 km² municipal area is characterized by fields and meadows, in the north of the municipality there are small remains of alluvial and hillside forests and the Bois Blanc forest . In the west, Wasigny has a part of the forest in the Forêt Domaniale de Fauvermont , which is designated as a nature reserve. Wasigny is surrounded by the neighboring communities of La Neuville-lès-Wasigny in the north, Grandchamp in the northeast, Mesmont in the east, Sery in the southeast, Justine-Herbigny in the south, Doumely-Bégny in the west and Draize in the northwest. In addition to the village of Wasigny, the districts of La Briqueterie and Le Moulin Vautier belong to the municipality of Wasigny .

The municipality of Wasigny is located off the main national transport routes. Narrow country roads lead from Wasigny to all neighboring communities. There is a connection to the A34 autoroute 13 kilometers southeast of Wasigny . The train station in the town of Rethel, 13 kilometers to the south, is on the railway line from Soissons to Givet .
