Aniline Island is an island in Moraine Fjord on the north coast of South Georgia . It rises up to 5 m above sea level and is 1.3 km south-southwest of Dartmouth Point .
The island is noted on early maps, but it was not until 1951 that the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey gave it its name after a rough survey. It is named after the aniline , which the survey used to stain histological specimens from the island.
