Animals. is an American comedy - animated series that first aired on HBO in 2016 , but was canceled after the third season in 2018.

The series humorously shows the coexistence of different animals in New York City , which can speak and in many cases behave in a human-like manner and face the problems of everyday life. In each episode, a single species is highlighted.
Production and publication
The series was produced in the United States from 2016 by Duplass Brothers Productions , HBO Entertainment and Starburns Industries . This resulted in 3 seasons with 30 episodes. The series was created by Phil Matarese and Mike Luciano, who also lend their voices to numerous characters in the original. It was first presented to the public in January 2015 at the Sundance Film Festival . The first two episodes were shown, which were still produced independently. Shortly after the end of the 2nd season, on May 19, 2017, a 3rd season was announced. After the broadcast of the third season, the cancellation of the series was announced.
The series first aired on HBO on February 5, 2016 . The German premiere took place on May 25, 2016 on Sky Atlantic HD .
