Anise oil burner

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Anise oil burner is an old profession that no longer occurs today.

Anise oil burners obtained anise oil , the essential oil from aniseed seeds ( Pimpinella anisum ), by steam distillation . It was typical of the areas in which a lot of high quality anise was grown ( Bad Langensalza , Erfurt , Mühlhausen and Magdeburg ). The oil tastes and smells sweet like anise, is yellow in color and was used in the manufacture of medicines, liqueurs , perfumes , toilet soap and as a spice . Anise oil has a high anethole content .

Anise oil has been replaced by the industrially produced anethole, which is the main component of anise oil.
