Anita Bose-Pfaff

Anita Pfaff ( born Schenkel-Bose on November 29, 1942 in Vienna ) is a German economist , former professor at the University of Augsburg and a politician ( SPD ).

Bose-Pfaff is the daughter of the Indian politician Subhash Chandra Bose (Netaji) and his Austrian wife Emilie Schenkl. She is Netaji's only child. On a trip to India she met her current husband, the economist and former SPD member of the Augsburg Bundestag, Martin Pfaff . They have three children together.

Academic career

Pfaff studied economics and from 1971 taught at the University of Augsburg , especially microeconomic theory, distribution theory and labor market theory and policy. There she was a professor and founded the International Institute for Empirical Social Economy with her husband . Her academic interests are in social policy, health economics, public health and transfer economics.

She also contributed her knowledge to the scientific advisory board for women's policy at the Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth or Health and Youth and to the Advisory Board for Spatial Planning at the Federal Ministry for Building and Urban Development. She was a member of the “Demographic Change” commission of inquiry of the German Bundestag and published for the Hans Böckler Foundation .

From 1978 to 1982 she was a member of the extended board of the "Society for Economic and Social Sciences" and was a member of various scientific advisory boards. She was deputy chairwoman of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin. Since 1989/90 she was the women's representative at the University of Augsburg. After her retirement in 2008 she became the first “amica universitatis” at the University of Augsburg.

In October 2011, Anita Bose-Pfaff was elected as second mayor of Stadtbergen as an SPD candidate.
