Ankichi Arakaki (bl. 1927)

Ankichi Arakaki (* 1899 in Akata Village , Shuri Province (Okinawa) ; † December 28, 1927 in Kadena , Okinawa) was one of the most influential martial arts experts in Shorin-ryu karate and Kobudo . He was born the first of 11 children.

At a young age he began taking karate lessons from his primary school teacher Shinpan Gusukuma (1890-1954). He was later taught by Chomo Hanashiro (1869-1945) and Chibana Chōshin (1885-1969), the founder of Kobayashi Shorin-Ryu .

Ankichi Arakaki was the teacher of Shoshin Nagamine , who later founded Matsubayashi-Ryu Karate.
