Ann & Andy or Ann & Andi are a German singing duo in the field of popular hits . The duo comes in two different line-ups, hence the two different spellings.

First occupation

Ann (real name: Christiane Vogt-Ellis , born November 25, 1949 in Antwerp ) is a classically trained singer. Among other things, she was active in the orchestra of the Belgian Radio.

Andy (real name: Luigi Eckehard Pelliccioni , born June 7, 1944 in Halle ) grew up in the GDR and fled to Düsseldorf in the late 1950s . Both sang in the Günther-Kallmann Choir in the 1960s and were discovered by Hans Bertram in the late 1960s. Their first record was released as the duo Ann & Andy. The duo had a few successes in the mid-1970s. Her greatest success was the song Gypsy Carriage . In the late 1980s, Andy had an accident and as a result the duo could no longer perform. Ann tried it as a soloist under her real name Chris Ellis.

Second occupation

Ann mainly sang at gala events and cruises in the 1990s. Michael Karp (* December 1962) from Wuppertal was also under contract with her record company. Michael had a couple of joint appearances with pop singer Olaf Henning in the early 1990s , but they split up because Olaf Henning began a solo career. Michael Karp first went into the textile trade, finally had a success as a singer with the recording Nur dein Clown from the film American Pie - Like a hot apple pie .

The record company had the idea to revive the successful duo Ann & Andy. Chris Ellis and Michael Karp hit it off and so Michael became the new Andi . Her first recording was in 2003 the song A coat and a hat , which was able to place in the popular charts. This song was included in the first album Free as the Wind . In addition to some new songs, the CD contains old successful tracks from the previous duo with a new arrangement.
