history
On the initiative of the Ulm high school teacher Bernhard Andelfinger and in cooperation with the Reform University of Ulm ("1st Ulm Model"), the City of Ulm and the State of Baden-Württemberg, a planning group was established in 1968, which in 1970 led to the establishment of the "2nd Ulm Model" high school . It was a model school with pioneering educational concepts in all-day operation and intensive cooperation between teachers, students and parents. Soon after it was founded, it cooperated with a secondary school in Ulm and in 1975 moved into a new building with open, modern architecture on the Kuhberg. In 1991 the grammar school was renamed Anna-Essinger-Gymnasium . Anna Essinger was a German reform pedagogue, a courageous Ulm humanist who was born in Ulm in 1879, fled to England with students in 1933 and died there in 1960.
