Anna Lang

Anna Lang (born May 5, 1911 in Lechhausen near Augsburg ; † September 27, 2019 in Augsburg-Lechhausen ) was a German weaver. At 108, she was the second oldest woman from Augsburg and became known for the documentary How I became 107 from the series of lines of life .

Life

Anna Lang grew up as the daughter of a maid in Lechhausen near Augsburg. At the age of 13 she was already working as a weaver in the mechanical cotton spinning and weaving mill in Augsburg (SWA) . After the death of her stepfather she appeared as an actress, played in plays, and recited melodramas with piano or organ accompaniment, and performed in the Ludwigsbau concert hall in Augsburg. This activity was ended by a marriage arranged by her mother. She was a member of the Workers' Welfare Association (AWO) for 55 years and attended their meetings and assemblies at the age of 108. At the age of over 105, she also explained her work as a weaver at the Augsburg State Textile and Industry Museum as a contemporary witness , where she was an honorary member of the Friends' Association. Anna Lang achieved great fame through the documentary How I Became 107 , which was made under the direction of Susanne Brantl as part of the series Life Lines of Bavarian Radio . In this documentary, the 107-year-old is portrayed in her everyday life. a. to see how, despite her 107 years, she goes to the weekly gymnastics, dances, cooks herself, uses her smartphone and drives the carousel while she reports on her biography. Political activities

During the National Socialist dictatorship, she was the only one of several thousand workers in the weaving mill to resist a decree "to give the Führer an hour", whereupon she was given a punishment. She also became a committed member of the SPD early on , because, as she says in the documentary: “You were the only ones who cared for the workers.” In 2014, she supported Mayor Kurt Gribl ( CSU ) in the local election campaign by being with could be seen on posters. At the same time, in 2019, at the age of 108, she was still active in the SPD-affiliated workers' welfare organization , of which she was a member for 55 years, and said "I did not support the party, I supported Mr. Gribl!" And described herself as a social democrat .
