Anna Reuss-Gaudelius

Anna Reuss-Gaudelius , née Anna Reuss , ( May 9, 1818 in Neu-Ötting - April 24, 1861 in Hamburg ) was a German theater actress and singer ( soprano ).

Life

Reuss-Gaudelius first sang in masses, with such success that she was prompted to continue her musical education. She went to the stage, but there, at first in Munich, she received more applause than an actress, so that she performed with great luck not only as a singer but also as an actress. Charlotte Birch-Pfeiffer recognized her extraordinary talent and immediately hired her for three years in Zurich. She then made guest appearances on excellent stages and knew how to acquire and maintain the full art of the audience everywhere. Her next engagements were Reval (where she married the actor Karl Gaudelius ), the combined Hoftheater Bernburg-Ballenstedt and finally Altona. In the latter city in particular it was, one could say, carried on the hands and there offered services which for a long time held a place of honor in the memory of the theatergoers. Her “Norma”, “Lucrezia Borgia”, “Frau Fluth”, “Regiment's daughter”, as well as her performances in drama received the highest appreciation. Occasionally, at a guest performance in Rendsburg, she was to take the stage for the last time on April 22, 1861 as "Mathilde" in Tell . Apparently she returned to Altona in good health, but two days later she died.
