Anna Ziegler (author)

Anna B. Ziegler (* 1979 in Brooklyn, New York ) is an American playwright .

She studied English, creative and scenic writing at Yale , East Anglia and New York Universities .

Her piece Photo 51 about Rosalind Franklin and the discovery of the structure of DNA was performed in the West End of London in 2015, starring Nicole Kidman , and received several awards. The German-language premiere took place in 2017 at the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in Hamburg with Isabella Vértes-Schütter as Rosalind Franklin.

In other pieces, Ziegler took up prominent social issues and picked up on current debates. In Actually (2017), for example, she dealt with the subject of consent in the context of allegations of sexual offenses at US colleges (see the debates on Mattress Performance and A Rape on Campus ) and in The Wanderers (2020) she describes a young arranged marriage in the Satmar -Community (see Unorthodox (mini-series) ).
