Anna of Saxony-Wittenberg († 1426)

Anna of Saxony († April 18, 1426 ) was the wife of Duke Friedrich von Braunschweig-Lüneburg , the German rival king.

Anna of Saxony was the daughter of Wenceslas I , Duke of Saxony-Wittenberg from the House of Askanier the Elector Holy Roman Empire and Prince of Lüneburg, and his wife Cecilia Carrara born.

In 1386 she was married to Duke Friedrich von Braunschweig-Lüneburg . The couple had two daughters. In 1400 Friedrich was elected German king, but the election was not recognized by three electors. Friedrich was murdered on his way home a month after the election.

Anna married Landgrave Balthasar of Thuringia for the second time . This marriage remained childless.

From her first marriage to Friedrich von Braunschweig-Lüneburg she left two daughters:

  1. Katharina († between May 3, 1436 and November 26, 1439); ⚭ (1413) Count Heinrich XIX. from Schwarzburg -Blankenburg
  2. Anna (* 1390; † 1432); ⚭ (1410) Friedrich IV of Habsburg with the empty pocket , Count in Tyrol
