Anne Curry

Anne Elizabeth Curry , mostly published under Anne Curry or AE Curry , (born May 27, 1954 in Chester-le-Street , County Durham) is a British historian .

Life

Curry holds a Chair in Medieval History at the University of Southampton and is editor of the Journal of Medieval History . Her research focus is the Hundred Years War . She is considered an expert on the Battle of Azincourt . She became known because she questioned the traditional opinion that French troops far outstripped those of the Anglo-Welsh during the Battle of Azincourt. In their opinion, the predominance of the French was significantly less, only about 12,000 French had opposed an Anglo-Welsh army of 9,000 men.
