Anne Frank Fund

The Anne Frank Fund ( AFF ) is a foundation under Swiss law based in Basel .

history

It was founded by Otto Heinrich Frank with his second wife Elfriede ("Fritzi", née Geiringer) in 1963 in Basel. Frank used the fund for his universal heir. As such, the fund manages the copyright on Anne Frank's diary . In addition to its publishing activities, the fund is committed to protecting Anne Frank's work and integrity. It is independent from the Anne Frank House in Amsterdam .

The nonprofit organization supports a large number of projects worldwide with the income from the sale of the diary. The fund is based on the guiding principles of Anne Frank and Otto H. Frank, who were committed to education, dialogue, international understanding and overcoming prejudice and racism. The fund set up the “Medical Fund for the Righteous”, which finances medicines for Righteous Among the Nations in Eastern Europe. Since 2000, the fund has supported the “Anne Frank Peace Days” organized annually by the city of Bergen and works with various institutions around the world to spread the message of Anne Frank's diary. In 2003, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC was given some original sheets of Anne's notes for exhibition. The annual report shows efforts on a global scale in projects in Germany, Israel , India , Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States .

The fund is run by a voluntary board of trustees. Anne Frank's cousin Buddy Elias was President of the Fund from 1996 until his death in 2015 , the current President is John D. Goldsmith .
