Anne Hamilton, 2nd Countess of Ruglen
Anne Hamilton, 2nd Countess of Ruglen (born April 5, 1698 in Cramond , † April 21, 1748 in York ) was a Scottish noblewoman .
She was the daughter of John Douglas-Hamilton, 1st Earl of Ruglen, 3rd Earl of Selkirk and his wife Anne Kennedy.
Before 1730 she married William Douglas, 2nd Earl of March . With him she had a son, William Douglas . After the death of her first husband, she married Anthony Sawyer on January 2, 1746/47.
When her father died in 1744, her older brother, William Hamilton, Lord Daer , had already died, so she inherited the paternal title Earl of Ruglen , along with the subordinate titles Viscount of Riccartoun and Lord Hillhouse . The paternal title Earl of Selkirk , along with all other subordinate titles, was not inheritable in the female line and therefore fell to her 2nd nephew Dunbar Douglas . When she herself died in 1748, her titles fell to her son.
