Anne Kristen (born March 7, 1937 in Glasgow , † August 7, 1996 in Edinburgh ) was a Scottish actress .

Life

The daughter of an editor of the Glasgow Herald , after graduating from Laurel Bank High School, she began to study acting at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama , where she was awarded the Academy's gold medal in her senior year. As a result, she recommended herself for an immediate engagement at the renowned Citizen Theater in Glasgow. There she played the Eliza Dolittle in George Bernard Shaw's My Fair Lady , the Lady Teazle under the direction of Albert Finney , who was the same age , the Johanna von Orléans and the Beatie in Arnold Wesker's Roots . She has played for other Scottish stages such as the 7:84 Company and has also appeared at the prestigious Edinburgh Festival several times . For most of her stage career she worked in Scottish theaters, only rarely did she appear in the south of the country, for example at the Nottingham Playhouse or the National Theater .

In addition, Anne Kristen often appeared in television films and series episodes. She played in Taggart , Wings , Hamish Macbeth and Spiols of War . She achieved a high level of awareness for her portrayal of Norma Sullivan in the BBC series Casualty .

Anne Kristen was married to fellow actor Iain Cuthbertson . However, the marriage ended in divorce. The actress died of cancer on August 7, 1996 at the age of 59.
