Annemarie Oestreicher

Annemarie Oestreicher (née Hinze ) (born December 14, 1875 in Berlin , † 1945 in Ravensbrück ) was a German social democratic politician.

Life

She came from a middle-class family. After elementary school she worked as an assistant nurse and independent dentist in Berlin until 1910 . After her marriage to the editor-in-chief of the Königsberger Volkszeitung, she was a housewife. She came to the SPD through her husband. In her second marriage, she married a commercial director of the Siemens-Schuckert-Werke in Berlin. In the 1920s she was also active as a writer.

From 1921 to 1932 she was a member of the Prussian state parliament for an East Prussian constituency . Her political priorities were health, cultural and agricultural policy as well as questions of agricultural workers. She was also a member of the Prussian State Health Council.

During the time of National Socialism she lived in Berlin. In 1944 she was arrested as part of the grating action . She was sent to the Ravensbrück concentration camp , where she died under unexplained circumstances in the spring of 1945.
