The Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium (also AvD ) in Gelsenkirchen-Buer is a municipal high school that is named after the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff . Almost 700 students are currently being taught by over 70 teachers (as of April 2020).

history

The Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium was founded in 1907 under the direction of Maria Kraneburg and recognized as a higher educational institution in 1910. In 1911 the first students left school with a secondary school leaving certificate . After several expansions, the first school leaving examination for the girls' high school took place in 1931.

In 1938 the school was renamed the Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff-Gymnasium . In addition, the school suffered from the Nazi era and the Second World War . a. the headmistress Maria Kraneburg was relieved of her office and in 1939 the new headmaster was called up for military service.

After the war and an interim ban on teaching by the Allies, the school reopened in 1946 under the direction of senior teacher Rechmann.

In 1967 the school moved to its current location, right next to the Max Planck Grammar School that was being built there.

In 1972, co-education was introduced in what is now the former girls ' high school . The Annette-von-Droste-Hülshoff and the neighboring Max-Planck-Gymnasium have been cooperating since 1978 , especially in the upper level .

In 1999 the new building was completed, in which z. B. the computer rooms are located.

inclusion

In the joint learning classes, pupils with disabilities are taught differently together with high school regular school children. The lessons are planned jointly by high school and special needs teachers.
