Annette Apon (born May 25, 1949 in Amsterdam ) is a Dutch director and screenwriter .

biography

Annette Apon, daughter of the actress Betty Kapsenberg (1909–1997) and the actor Jan Apon (1907–1993), attended the Nederlandse Film en Televisie Academie in Amsterdam. In 1968 she founded the film magazine Skrien together with fellow students and in 1974 co-initiated the left-wing film collective Amsterdams Stadsjournaal . In 1982 she made her debut with her full-length film The Waves , the first adaptation of a story by Virginia Woolf by a Dutch director. The film ran on 1982 at the Berlinale in a special screening in competition. The following year she won the jury award at the Dutch Film Festival for her film Giovanni . In 1990 her film Crocodiles in Amsterdam was shown in the Panorama section of the Berlin International Film Festival.

By 2019 Apon made more than 20 films and directed plays. Her documentaries about the Dutch actress Fien de la Mar (Ik wil gelukkig zijn ) and the German-Dutch double agent Leonie Brandt (Leonie, actrice en spionne ) have recently appeared .
