history
The initiator of the first festival in 1981 was the film director Jos Stelling from Utrecht . During the construction he received support from Wim Verstappen , Rob Houwer and Huub Bals . Until 1994 the festival ran under the name Dutch Film Days ( Dutch : Nederlandse Filmdagen ). In the early years the event was like a cozy gathering of Dutch filmmakers in a specific location. In the meantime the festival has developed into a very well-attended public event. The 26th edition of 2006 attracted 118,000 visitors. The 2008 Dutch Film Festival will take place from September 24th to October 3rd.
