Johanna ter Steege (born May 10, 1961 in Wierden ) is a Dutch actress .

life and career

Johanna ter Steege began her career by studying at the University of Dramatic Art in Kampen from 1979 to 1984 and became an acting teacher. From 1984 to 1988 she trained as a stage actress at the drama school in Arnhem . Since 1988 she has played regularly in films and won a Felix for her first supporting role . The first international work followed. She played under directors such as Robert Altman , István Szabó and Bruce Beresford . In the mid-1990s she was hired by Stanley Kubrick for the lead role in his planned Auschwitz drama, which was postponed after Steven Spielberg released his film Schindler's List (1993). Work on it was never resumed.

Ter Steege has been married to Jan Obbeek since 1995 and had a daughter in 1998 who has also appeared in films.
