The 31-year-old Tristan loses his wife Kerstin in a car accident. He stands in front of her coffin and remembers the clique with whom he was out and about in the 1980s .

The 80s: Tristan is 15 and has a lot of problems. His parents want to get a divorce and he is in love with Kerstin, his best friend. His friends cannot help him as they struggle with their own problems. When Tristan later moves to another city with his mother, he is visited by Kerstin and they kiss.

In the end, Tristan leaves the church and approaches other mourners. Shortly before the end credits, you see 15-year-old Tristan with his clique (also known as “Kerstin”) sitting on a bench.

In the credits itself you learn that Tristan's friends have taken on some very successful jobs. For example, one of his friends becomes the sports director of a second division team , another runs a raw materials company in Caracas / Venezuela . You also learn that some of his friends from the clique got married and had children.
