Bruce Beresford

Bruce Beresford (born August 16, 1940 in Sydney ) is an Australian film director , screenwriter, producer and actor.

Bruce Beresford works in both Australia and the United States . In the 1960s he made several short films, followed by his first feature film in 1972.

For the screenplay for The Fall of Lieutnant Morant , he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Adapted Screenplay in 1981 together with Jonathan Hardy and David Stevens . The year before they won the Australian Film Institute Award from the Australian Film Institute .

In 1984 he received an Oscar nomination for Best Director for his work on the drama Comeback der Liebe , starring Robert Duvall and Tess Harper . In 1989, Beresford directed the tragic comedy Miss Daisy and Her Chauffeur , which a year later won the Oscar for Best Picture of the Year.
