Alain Raoust (born June 2, 1966 in Nice ) is a French film director .

Life

Raoust comes from the Rhône-Alpes region . He began his career as an assistant to the director Jean-Pierre Thorn . At the end of the 1980s, he began studying at the University of Paris VIII (St. Denis / Vincennes). First experimental films were made, which found their place, for example, in the distribution of the Paris organization LightCone, later medium and long feature films. Raoust teaches film directing at the University of Paris / St. Denis and occasionally at the FEMIS film school.

The film, set in the barren landscape of the French Alps, tells of the difficulties of an older man (Johann Leysen) with an unsteady past, coming to terms with his life between a teenage daughter, girlfriend ( Johanna ter Steege ) and his odd jobs . At the 25th French Film Festival in Tübingen in 2008 , Alain Raoust's work was shown completely in Germany for the first time as part of a homage . After a long break, his feature film Rêves de jeunesse premiered in the ACID series at the 2019 Cannes Film Festival .
